Bargain Watch: Nikon 1 J1 for $229

Nikon 1 J1, white with 10mm and 10-30mm lenses

If you’re looking to upgrade from a point-and-click compact digital camera to something better, there’s a Nikon bargain to be had at retailer Camera House right now.

Admittedly the Nikon 1 J1 is coming up on being two years old now, but it is still an excellent camera. Indeed it was awarded a ‘Best of the Best’ in the prestigious ‘red dot awards’ in 2012. The Nikon 1 J1 a 10.1 megapixel camera, with a 13.2 mm x 8.8 mm CMOS sensor and 3-inch LCD screen.

It’s an interchangeable lens camera, with the Nikon One range of lenses available to choose from, plus with the optional mount adapter Nikon’s F mount Nikkor lenses can be attached to the J1.

Back when it was first released the Nikon 1 J1 was selling for around $650. Camera House has it now for $229, with a choice of either a 10mm lens, or the 10-30mm lens, and from what I saw in the window a choice of the black, white and silver colourways.
