COMPETITION CLOSED

You may not know it, but there are alternatives these days to signing long mobile phone contracts with the big providers. One such alternative that doesn’t lock you into high costs is amaysim.

amaysim AS YOU GO offers a fair and simple pricing structure; with standard calls costing 15c per minute Australia wide, any network, anytime. Standard SMS are charged at 12c each and data at 5c per MB. You buy the SIM; you get the service, with no minimum contract term and no minimum usage.

This low-priced and easy to understand service is supported by an Australian customer service centre and sits on the Optus 3G network, covering over 97% of Australia.

Thanks to amaysim, TechStyles has five amaysim SIM cards to give away to readers of TechStyles, each loaded with $50 of amaysim AS YOU GO credit. Credit on amaysim AS YOU GO lasts 90 days and, in addition to the simple low rates, there is free national unlimited mobile access to Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, MySpace, eBay and Foursquare (excluding links to third party content).

  1. Cori says:

I’m easy. If I win a $50 amaysim credit, I’ll switch to any provider you like!

  2. Leanne Gaudry says:

Cheap rates and good customer service which seem to be lacking with other providors

  3. Robert Meischke says:

I love the idea of “Pay as you go”. I don’t have a contract with the supermarket, where I pay them a monthly fee to cover price-inflated groceries up to a certain value, then lose whatever I don’t spend. Why should I do that with my telephone? I like a good price up front and only paying for what I use. It’s simple and brilliant.

  4. Anna Angel says:

Optus and Telstra are virtually evil; Virgin is no better. If amaysim can turn it all around it will be amayzin’!

  5. Fabian Sbrissa says:

I live in a notorious mobile phone black spot in Rural Victoria so getting any coverage would be good. I’d also switch for a lifetime supply of FREE unlimited SIM cards.

  6. Dash says:

An honest and open provider would make anyone want to switch. And actually providing what they promise would be great too. You provide that and you have my business.

  7. michelle fay says:

sounds sweet,if you’ve ever had three girls and a boy all in their teens then you would switch to save money too.

  8. Chris Collins says:

A provider that is truthful and doesn’t fleece me like a snake oil merchant.
A phone reception that doesn’t suddenly drop dead like mosquitoes.
A helpdesk team that can answer my questions without feeling like a circus.
Most of all, a company that respects me as a customer, meaning no phone hacking! ;-)

  9. Cian says:

I’d switch for cheaper call rates and no long-term contracts. Looks like ayamsim might be the answer I’ve been looking for.

  10. Michelle says:

I would switch if there was excellent coverage for Tasmanians, cheaper call rates and if they could equal or beat the testra 1 cent texts.

  11. Kerrie O says:

Everyone is ditching their fixed lines, so I hate that providers try and use it as an incentive to bulk package deals. Phones are now connected to people, not places. Reward your customers for loyalty in other ways, like entry into premium competition texts for standard text fees!

  12. Megan says:

    Unlimited premium SMS!

  13. Sivyeang Ly says:

    Just like the name
    Amaysim is really Amazing
Once you switch your life will not be the same
No more sneaky lock in contracts or company stalking
Their plans are simple, fair and the price is simply awesome
No wonder the other providers are feeling lonesome

  14. Simon Broner says:

Strong network coverage/reception and competitive call rates

  15. Taing Cheng says:

Here are my 5 Awesome reasons:

    1. Exceptional real-time service support both on the phone and via social media/email communications
    2. Actually speaking to a professional helpdesk person who funny enough speaks English you can understand :) and based in Australia
    3. No more call drop outs
    4. No more nagging calls from X provider harassing you to extend your current contract/plans
    5. Lots of positive feedback from my friends who use Amaysim

Amaysim fits all the above criteria with a breeze

  16. Damien Taylor says:

The two determining factors would be the level of service and pricing.

  17. Julian Cartledge says:

Given that most providers are like sheep and giving less and less time to use your credit with pre-paid plans, Extended usage period like Amaysim would make me change. It’s refreshing and I like what I see on their facebook wall at different times from real customers.

  18. Fran says:

Cheaper rates of course, better service, improved coverage (I don’t live in a rural area but even an hour out of Brissy my current provider drops out) cheaper and more accessible internet.

  19. Jaime Moreno B. says:

being sick and tired of giving my money to the only larger ungratefull greedy monopoly of networks (vodafone, three atm)… i will switch network at the drop of a leaf.

  20. Paul Suter says:

better coverage, better prices, better warranties and sales service and better deals.

  21. Peter F says:

    …a simple billing statement

  22. Joanne says:

If ANYONE could offer me coverage at home other than Telstra, I’d be there like a shot!

  23. Natalie Angus says:

I would switch my mobile provider if they increased costs and started charging me for internet usage. Another reason if reception would constantly drop out.

  24. Warren says:

Telstra are total rip off merchants, and they charge a FORTUNE because they have the best coverage for rural areas like where I live. I hate how much it cost me in credit to use them, so if ANY provider gave me clear rural coverage I would switch in a heartbeat.

  25. Debra Marr says:

Decent customer service , no hour or more waiting on the phone for a simple answer .Able to use MY credit the way I want to.
Having someone who speaks understandable english when you make an inquiry.

  26. Anna Lee says:

Better coverage, the place where I work and my current provider just don’t compliment each other and I’m always missing calls and saying “Whaaaat?” not cool.

  27. Sue R says:

I would switch my mobile provider if there was a cheaper one with better rates.
