As part of celebrating TechStyles’ second birthday, Dell is giving TechStyles readers the opportunity to win a Dell Inspiron 15R laptop computer!

The Dell Inspiron 15R is valued at $599, and has a 2nd Gen Intel Core processor, 15.6 inch screen, genuine Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit operating system, and optional switchable lid colours.

How to enter

To enter, there are two things you need to do. Please read the instructions CAREFULLY!

Scroll down this page, to the ‘Leave a Reply’ section, provide your full name, and a valid email address, and leave a 30 words or less answer to the following question:

If you could custom design a laptop computer, what design features would you add to make your computer “more you”?

Please note, the FULL NAME you use in your answer MUST MATCH the name on your Facebook profile.

    It would have a poor memory, old MOTHERboard, wrinkled screen, definitely not lightweight, slow running, not fond of mice, plain looking and hard to boot up especially in winter.

    A custom computer for me would be able to change colours like a mood ring, then everyone would know when to stay away, and went to come and play!

    Install a gorilla glass capacitative screen on the lid. Combines the concept of hot swappable covers, a laptop and a tablet in one.

    Finger print scanner so laptop only unlatches for me, plus a pop out coffee warmer and for those annoying coffee spills a washable Keyboard that clips out for easy cleaning.

    A “stop procrastinating button”, which if I push it will block access to Facebook, Youtube and games sites for two hours while I complete homework!

    i would have a beach design with kids foot prints in the sand as the cover, a pink key board with gel pads for comfort

    I would make a solar-panel out of the Dell switchable lid cover, so that I would never run out of battery and have a big TechStyles logo displayed.

    It would be teal with a lit keyboard, 17″, would go really fast and have a crapton of storage. Oooooyeah.

    i would definitely include a drink holder and then some form of spill-proof keyboard. I am constantly having to replace mine due to drink spillages :)

    I’d have a blue Butters (South Park) laptop cover with the image from ‘The Butters Show’. I’d also have the keyboard lights pink.

    Switch colours depending on who is logged on; have a timer that sends a slight shock so the user know it’s time for the next kid to have a go!

    I would make the case out of carbon fibre so that it would be very strong and very light, and the weave pattern would have a beautiful glazed cloth-like appearance.

    It would need to be pink with a fluffy lid and wrist rest and a built in microphone so no matter where the kids are they can always hear me!

    The colour firstly, then make sure the keys are easy to use and illuminated, a poor feature of a lot of laptops, then touch screen capability life would be so much easier, along with voice recognition

    My custom laptop would be completely sustainable, using solar and thermal (from my hands/body) energy to power it. It would also be extremely light and portable.

    I would have to have a laptop that will not slow down, no matter how many screens I have up, as well as solar a solar panel.

    I would have a USB mini TV monitor plugin, so that I could watch movies, (every movie tells a story), without impacting my internet surfing. Perfect for leisure and work multi-skilling.

    I would like the laptop to run on solar energy and I should also be able to detach the screen and use it as a tablet. I should also be able to use it as a TV by just plugging in the TV wire.

    Alot of the Schools programs for kids are not compatible with some laptops. I would custom design one just for kids that does have all the safety and Barred features.

    My laptop would be made entirely of crystal glass. I can swap the keyboard surface with my favourite chess or board game with a gentle swipe. A great de-stress quality! :-)

    I would add Mission Impossible/Stephen Hawking design features – infrared technology with a touchscreen interface; and a second holographic screen built in so I don’t have to connect another monitor.
