With the move into high definition TV, the poor cousin in the home theatre set-up is often the sound. TVs look the goods, but often don’t sound them. Options are installing a 5.1 sound system, or a soundbar. Or you could build some big sound into the TV, as Bose has done with the VideoWave entertainment system.

Inside the 46 inch 1080p LCD display are six high-performance woofers, a seven-element speaker array and advanced Bose digital signal processing. These, combined with the Bose PhaseGuide™ sound radiator technology and the Bose ADAPTiQ® audio calibration technology, best set-up the VideoWave for your room.

The Control console connects to the VideoWave via one cable, and can connects up to five high-definition devices, such as Blu-ray players, DVRs, and games consoles. Included in the package is an iPhone / iPod dock. Speaking of iPods and iPhones, you are abe to mute the screen and only use the VideoWave’s speakers to listed to music, podcasts, etc.

“The Bose VideoWave system creates an entirely new category of product,” said Santiago Carvajal, business director for Bose Video Products. “We first combined picture and sound without compromising either. That gave us an opportunity to solve another problem recognised by nearly everyone: the complexity of using multiple remotes to manage separate devices – like a Blu-ray player, cable box, iPod or DVR.
