The HTC Android phone roadshow rolls on, with the HTC Evo 3D smartphone the next release from the prolific Taiwanese company.
Not surprisingly, given that the phone can display video, photo and games content in 3D, the HTC Evo 3D has a big screen, a 4.3 inch “super LCD display”. And the big touchscreen is accompanied by its regular – and necessary – partner in crime, the big battery – 1730mAh in size in this instance. At launch the HTC Evo 3D will ship with version 2.3.4 of Google Android, aka Google Gingerbread.
The glasses-free 3D effect is brought about by the use of twin cameras, that in 3D mode provide up to 2 megapixel resolution (5 megapixel in 2D mode). The HTC Watch service will alow you to download movies, and there’ll be games to take advantage of the 3D feature. If you’ve a 3D TV you can display photos and video from your phone on the big screen, and if your TV is DLNA-enabled you’ll be able display content from your HTC Evo 3D wirelessly.
HTC Evo 3D price and availability
The HTC Evo 3D will be available in mid-September, and judging by the wording of the press release, it will be available on multiple carriers. Telstra is a definite, as it published a short video showing off the HTC Evo 3D on one of its blogs yesterday.
The price? I feel like I should have this phrase as a macro on my computer – pricing will be revealed closer to the launch date. But it’s a top of the line Android phone. If you want a good guess at the pricing look at the recent top-of-the-line Android phones on sale now. The HTC Evo 3D will be about that price.
HTC Evo 3D video review
The HTC Evo 3D has been available in the USA for a little while now, and here’s a video revew from Wirefly. Disregard the mention of Sprint, that’s a a US carrier, and it will ship to Australia with a more recent version of Android Gingerbread than is mentioned in this video.
