The HTC Legend smartphone is being shown to the media next week in Australia, and is to run, at least initially, on the Vodafone and 3 networks.

Again, the Legend runs the Google Android operating system, in this instance it’s version 2.1 (Eclair).

Like its predecessor, the HTC Desire, it runs the quite human-friendly HTC Sense user interface, along with user-friendly features like automatically lowering the ringtone volume as soon as the phone is picked up, muting the ringtone when the phone is flipped face down. It also uses an AMOLED screen, as seen to brilliant effect on the HTC Desire – it’s a technology that produces very crisp images. Oh, and unlike the Apple iPad, the HTC Legend will play nice with Flash, so can get your internet video fix no problem.

The HTC Legend varies from the Desire in terms of its design. The case is brushed aluminium, and we something of a return of the Taiwanese company’s trademark design features, the ‘HTC chin’ – rather than a flat front, the bottom of the phone angles up slightly.

Further details, such as price and availability, are expected midway next week, so watch this space. For a another look, visit our HTC Legend photo gallery.
