Nikon Df DSLR camera in Australia for Xmas

Nikon Df DSLR camera colour range

The Nikon Df DSLR camera was announced today, a new 16.2 megapixel camera with the same full frame CMOS sensor that appears in Nikon’s top-of-the-range D4.

It might have the full-frame sensor of the flagship Nikon D4, but the Nikon Df has none of that camera’s heft. The Df is Nikon’s smallest and most compact FX camera, with its body measuring 143.5 x 110 x 66.5 mm, and weighing in at 765 grams with the battery and memory card inserted.

A notable absence in the feature set of the Nikon Df is video – this is a stills camera only, it does not shoot video.

Other key features of the Nikon Df include:

  • EXPEED 3 image processing engine, with an ISO range of 100-12800
  • Low-light, HDR and Active D-Lighting capabilities and improved white balance
  • Ultimate style – available in silver or black with leatherette finish that enhances comfort and is reminiscent of Nikon’s milestone masterpieces
  • Mechanical dials which give photographers total camera control over shutter speed, ISO sensitivity, exposure compensation, exposure mode and release mode
  • Compatibility with the full range of classic Nikon lenses, including non-AI lenses

Nikon also announced a new lens, a special edition AF-S 50mm f/1.8G lens, designed to match the Df camera.

Price and availability

The Nikon Df DSLR camera will go on sale on 28 November 2013. As yet no Australian pricing is available, but as a guide US pricing is US$2,750 for the body alone, or US$3,000 when bundles with the new special edition AF-S 50mm f/1.8G lens.

Colour choice will be black, and black/silver, as seen in the image at the top of the page.
