Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mark II price and availability announced

Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mark II front angle view, with lens

We knew the Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mark II was on the way, but now we have an on-sale date, and the Australian RRP.

First up, a few specs. The OM-D E-M1 Mark II is a mirrorless interchangeable lens camera, with a 20.4 Megapixel Live MOS sensor, 3.0-inch vari-angle LCD touchscreen, and the new TruePic VIII image processor to help the camera capture quality photos.

Images can be tagged with GPS data, and the wi-fi feature can share images to up to four devices simultaneously. And it is splashproof, dustproof, and freezeproof.

For an in-camera play with images you take, there are a number of art filters — Pop Art, Soft Focus, Pale & Light Colour, Light Tone, Grainy Film, Pin Hole, Diorama, Cross Process, Gentle Sepia, Dramatic Tone, Key Line, WaterColour, Vintage, and Partial Colour, all with multiple options within those individual filters.

Other creative features on the camera include:

Focus Stacking Mode — takes 8 photos of slightly different focus and merges them automatically into a single photo in focus from the foreground to background.

Pro Capture — half press the shutter button, and the camera begins to record images, and when full-pressed the most recent 14 images are kept.

And to put the camera in…

But wait, there’s more. Olympus have a new camera bag on the way, the CBG-12. It’s small enough to qualify as a carry-on bag on the plane, and big enough to stash in a good amount of camera gear. It’s strong, and water repellant, and includes a groundsheet to keep the bag clean when placed on the ground on a shoot.

Price and availability

The Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mark II camera will be in stores in December 2016. For the body only the price will be $2,799. Watch for lens pack deals closer to the release date.

The CBG-12 Camera Bag? A none-too-cheap $499 RRP. It will be in stores in December too.
