Following Panasonic’s first entry into the soundbar market, last year’s SC-HTB10, the company announced the successor, the SC-HTB520, at the 2011 International Consumer Electronics Show.
The SC-HTB10 is comprised of the soundbar and a subwoofer. The soundbar can be be wall-mounted, or rest on a surface such as a home theatre cabinet. The subwoofer works wirelessly, allowing a certain freedom of placement.
Virtual surround technology is used to make the audio fire across the soundbar’s bank of self-contained speakers, helping the one speaker box mimic a multi-speaker set-up.
The finish of the two pieces is gloss black, with a black mesh covering the soundbar’s speakers, though the speaker cones remain visible through the mesh.
The Panasonic SC-HTB10 will go on sale in the USA in April.
