It’s seemingly Nokia week here at TechStyles. Yesterday we had the hands-on with the new MeeGo-powered Nokia N9. Today it’s three new phones announced the other day, the Nokia 600, Nokia 700 and Nokia 701. These three new phones run on the latest version of the Symbian operating system, named Symbian Belle.

“After bringing exciting new features to the Symbian user experience only two months ago with Symbian Anna, we are now driving the platform even further with our most competitive Symbian user experience ever,” said Ilari Nurmi, Vice President at Nokia. “Symbian Belle and the three new handsets we are launching today show our commitment to continue delivering Symbian products that allow people to choose what is most important to them in terms of user experience, design, functionality and price. These will not be last products or updates we will deliver on Symbian.”

These three phones are, separately, Nokia’s loudest, smallest and brightest smartphones.

Nokia 600

The Nokia 600 will be Nokia’s loudest smartphone, hitting the sonic scales at 106 Phons. Phons is apparently not a universally accepted system of measurement – it exists to measure the effect of frequency on perceived loudness. So given it’s a non-standard system of measurement, I’ll wait until I hear the Nokia N600 before I give it the loudness crown.

This phone is at the budget end of this new Symbian Belle range. It has a 1 GHz processor; 5 megapixel camera with LED flash, takes HD video, and has 2GB of internal memory. This can be increased with up to 32GB microSD card.

Nokia 700

The Nokia 700 is the small phone of the three, Nokia’s smallest Symbian phone – weighing 96 grams and measuring 110 x 50.7 x 9.7 mm.

Features of the Nokia 700 include 1Ghz processor, 3.2 inch AMOLED screen ClearBlack display, 2GB of internal memory. It shoots HD video, via its 5 megapixel camera. Again, this phone will accommodate an SD card of up to 32GB to expand the storage.

Nokia 701

The Nokia 701 is the brightest phone of this new bunch, through the output of its 3.5 inch ClearBlack display. If you think it looks a lot like the Nokia C7 then you’re right, like the Nokia Oro the the Nokia 701 is based on that earlier phone.

Main features include a1GHz processor, 8 megapixel camera with dual LED flash and 2 X digital zoom, 2nd front-facing camera and HD video capture. The onboard 8GB of internal memory can be boosted to up to 40GB by adding a 32GB microSD card.
