Toshiba has produced a Flash-based website showing off a few details of its upcoming Android Honeycomb-powered Toshiba Tablet computer, complete with a smartarse shot at Apple.
Specifications are listed below, and as for release date the site mentions ‘Coming this Spring’, presumably that’s a Northern Hemisphere/US market release date. I also presume they’ll come up with a sexier name than merely Toshiba Tablet.
Cheekily, if you try to access the site on an iPod or iPad, the site produces a mock error page with the following text:
Such a shame. Add this to the list of interesting places on the Internet you can’t see on your device. Of course, if you had a Toshiba Tablet, you would enjoy the entire Internet. Yep, Flash sites too.
Revealed on the website is that there will be a choice of five “colorful, slip-resistant, EasyGrip™ backs”. Other specifications revealed are:
- Operating system: Android Honeycomb
- Display: 10.1″ capacitive multi-touch screen, 1280 x 800, 720p, 16:10 aspect ratio
- Video processor: NVIDIA (Tegra™ 2)
- Cameras: 2 megapixel front facing webcam; 5 megapixel rear camera with autofocus
- Stereo surround sound speakers
- Web: Wi-Fi access to all of the web including Flash
- Ports & expansion: USB 2.0, mini-USB, full HDMI, SD slot, docking port, headphone jack
