Turtle Beach Stealth 600 gaming headphones review

Turtle Beach Stealth 600 gaming headphones

The Stealth 600 wireless  gaming headphones by Turtle Beach are available for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 4 Pro, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch.

They’ve been around for a couple of years now, and we’ve had a pair of the PlayStation 4 model to look at for a couple of weeks. And there’s lot to like.

Firstly, let’s start at the start. Plug the USB receiver into the PlayStation, push the button on the receiver to pair with the PS4, and you’re good to go. They headphones are comfortable to wear, both when you initially put them on, and well into a long session of gaming.

Soundwise, the headphones are managed by four controls. There’s two volume controls, one for game sound another for mic sound. There’s no mute switch on the mic, instead you flip the mic up. What switches are in place are an on/off switch, and a mode switch. In addition to turning the headphones and on and off, the on/off switch also lets you toggle into what Turtle Beach calls Superhuman Hearing, which boosts the sound on the mic *and* gameplay. A handy feature to have in those situations when you’re needing to be super sensitive on the smaller sounds in gameplay.

The mode switch allows you to toggle through:

  • Bass boost
  • Bass and treble boost
  • Signature sound (puts everything back to default levels)
  • Vocal boost (makes voice chat clearer)

There’s in-ear vocal help on both the modes and the Superhuman Hearing switches, making it easy to choose and know what sound modes you’re in, and I found the access to all the sound controls convenient.

Battery life on the box says 15 hours, and that I found to be a pretty accurate figure.

Summary

Overall, if you’re looking a for a comfortable set of gaming headphones, with pretty damn good sound quality, and excellent battery life, I think the Stealth 600 headphones will be a good fit.
