Victorinox Swiss Army Knife SSD – 1TB in your pocket

Victorinox Swiss Army Knife SSD

Did you think that the Swiss Army Knife boffins were going to stop at the Wenger Giant Swiss Army Knife in the battle for king of the pocket knife world? Don’t call that race too early! The Victorinox Swiss Army Knife SSD might not go to the top of that pile, but it’s a solid entry.

Victorinox are aiming with the SSD to be at the cutting of edge of digital storage, with what is claimed to be the world’s smallest high capacity solid state drive, packing up to a 1 terabyte drive.. yes, that’s right, 1 terabyte. That’s the biggest member of the range, with the range beginning with a 64GB version.

The when and how much questions on this vary. There’s on report of availability in the 3rd quarter of the year, and another for April. Pricewise it’s in the region of US$2,000 – 3,000. But you just knew this was going to be priced more toward the Richard Bransons of the world rather than Richard the blue collar worker. So while this will be purchased by very few, and could perhaps be seen as more of headline grabber than a ‘proper’ product, it’s a great pointer to the sort of storage product, and size, that will be affordable in the near(ish) future.
