With the expected announcement of the next iPhone coming up fast on September 10, we’re right now in the middle of the iPhone rumour storm. One such rumour has it that a new colour will be added to the iPhone range, a gold, or champagne-coloured iPhone.
Meanwhile, with Sony set to announce a slew of new products to coincide with this week’s IFA Consumer Electronics Show in Berlin, it also has its busy round of rumours happening. One such rumour is that Sony is soon to release a range of lens cameras – a camera within a lens – that will magnetically clip on to a smartphone.
This rumour came via the sonyalpharumors website, a rumour it rated as ‘almost certainly correct’. That same website has now published a rumour it regards as equally strong, that Sony will make a gold-and-white lens camera.
Of course there are other smartphones that would nicely match the QX10 Smart Shot in white and gold. But is this Sony seeing strong sales for its lens camera aligning with the rumoured new gold iPhone?
Not too many more sleeps and we’ll find out.
UPDATE – 5 September 2013
Sony overnight officially announced the Cyber-shot DSC-QX100 and DSCQX10 lens-style cameras. The gold and white colour hasn’t appeared, instead only the black colour has been shown.
Australian pricing is as follows:
- DSC-QX10 – $279 RRP
- DSC-QX100 – $599 RRP
The Cyber-shot DSC-QX100 and DSCQX10 will go on sale in mid-October.
UPDATE – 17 September 2103
Sony Australia today held a press event showing many of the new products that were first shown at IFA. While only the black QX lens cameras were on display for journalists to play with, images of the gold and white QX lens camera were shown on a TV screen behind Sony staff as they spoke. So the gold and white colour is official.
