Ricoh cameras have won two awards at this year’s Camera Magazine Imaging Awards – the CX4 compact digital camera and the innovative GXR interchangeable lens unit camera.
The Ricoh CX4 has won the Consumer Compact Camera Of The Year category. Of the Ricoh CX4 camera, the judges said:
“It’s easy to be seduced by the sexiness of some other compact DSC designs, but in the end It’s still all about taking pictures and here the Ricoh CX4 was unbeatable.”
The Ricoh GXR won the ‘Innovative Imaging Product Of The Year’ category. First released in November 2009, is still unique in its design. Rather than using interchangeable lenses, Ricoh’s system of interchangeable lens units contains the lens, image sensor and the digital signal processing chip.
Lens types you can slot into the GXR body are:
A12 50mm F2.5 macro
S10 24-72mm F2.5-4.4 VC
P10 28-300mm F3.5-5.6 VC
A12 28mm F2.5
Of the GXR, the judges said:
“Truly clever ideas don’t come along all that often and they really require some seriously inventive thinking which is undoubtedly what happened with Ricoh’s GXR… Ricoh is really only limited by its imagination here.”
