If you’re someone who likes the look of an iPhone case, but don’t feel you need the protective capabilities, the range of iPhone skins, or iPhone stickers, from Santa Barbara Design Studio might be what you want to personalise your iPhone.
Each set includes the sticker to cover the back of the phone, plus two small stickers to fit around the speaker and button on the front of the iPhone. The 3M adhesive used allows for repositioning if you don’t get the placement correct the first time, and it is claimed that no residue is left when removed.
Designs are available for the iPhone 3G, 3Gs and 4 models, be sure though to check that any you’re interested in are labelled to fit the iPhone 4.
Concepts run from famous quotes, to images from the 50s, to images from the ‘Glee’ TV show. There’s a few images in there for guys, but for the most part the design DNA looks skewed toward the feminine. At the time of writing there are almost 100 different designs available.
Buy online and the range sells for between US$5.50 and $US7.50 each – if you want to hop on and express your devotion to ‘Glee’, they are the skins at the top end of the price range.
They do seem to have snuck onto the shelves of Australian retail stores. TechStyles writer Tracy Tyne picked up a Santa Barbara Design Studio iPhone skin in what I like to call my version of retail hell – a store selling ‘shabby chic’ items. The price was around $13 Australian.
