Olympus has announced the upcoming release of its next tough digital camera, the Olympus TG-320, at the CES in Las Vegas today.

The TG-320 is waterproof three metres, shock-proof to falls from up 1.5 metres and will click along happily enough in temperatures down to minus 10 degrees Celsius. Other numbers to associate with the camera:

  • 14 megapixel
  • TruePic III+ processor for ideal colour reproduction and low noise
  • 28-102mm (3.6x) zoom lens with ED lens elements (Extra-low Dispersion lenses)
  • 17 scene modes and 8 Magic Filter effects (Pop Art, Pin Hole, Drawing, Fisheye, Soft Focus, Punk, Watercolour, Sparkle)
  • HD video recording in 720p

In addition to Magic Filter effects available to stills, six of them can also apply to shooting video. A little help to the photographer is provided via the Dual Image Stabilisation system, as will the Face Detection and Shadow Adjustment Technology.

It will also be compatible with the new Eye-Fi Cards, allowing the wireless upload of images.

The Olympus TG-320 will go on sale in February 2012, and will be available in two colours, red and blue. For the pricing, we’ll have to wait a few weeks.
