Back when I was a kid, there was a show that I used to love called ‘Lancelot Link, Secret Chimp”. Basically it was a 1960s spy show, like ‘Get Smart’, but all of the characters were played by chimpanzees. And a baboon. Needless to say, it’s not a show that would be made these days, not with live animals.
Anyway, one character, a bad guy called Ali Assassin, used to do something I quite liked, and still emulate from time to time. He made, with his own voice, his own theme music. My favourite was his theme when hopping on his camel heading off to commit a little evil.
So obviously I’m quite taken by the idiotic brilliance of the Personal Soundtrack Shirt, from the boffins at ThinkGeek. Placed in the shirt is a speaker, which plays 20 built in snippets of music or sound effects, all set off via a 20-button remote control, and powered by 4 AA batterries.
The included music and sound effects are:
Musical themes: Royal Entrance, Sexy Time Theme, Disco Floor, Silent Movie Chase Theme, True Love, Scary Movie, Spy Mission, Super Hero Rescue, Western Showdown, Game Show.
Included Sound Effects: Cheering, Drum Roll, Cat Call Whistle, Laugh Track, Booing, Crying, “Wrong Answer” Buzzer, Rim Shot, Metal Air Guitar, Police Siren.
If you want to add your own music or sound effect, you can pop them on an SD memory card, and off you shoot. With your own personal soundtrack. It also allows you simply plug in an iPod or MP3 player and play songs through the speaker. Easiest. Saturday. Night. Fever. Recreation. Ever. To do this you’ll need a male-to-male headphone cable, purchased separately.
